Ms. Powell earned her Juris Doctor from Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law in 2025, where she concentrated in Public Interest Law. 

During law school, she was involved in immigration advocacy through the school’s immigration clinic and her leadership as Co-President of the Immigration Law Society. In that role, she organized and led numerous pro bono legal clinics serving immigrant communities across the Philadelphia region. Ms. Powell also interned with a Paoli-based immigration firm and a Philadelphia immigration nonprofit, where she worked on matters involving asylum, removal defense, and family-based immigration. In recognition of her commitment to service, she was honored with Villanova Law’s Dorothy Day Award for Pro Bono Service.

My Immigrant Story:

I spent most of my life in the Philadelphia area, but I also had the unique opportunity to live in Argentina as a child. While attending an international school in Buenos Aires, I became fluent in Spanish and discovered the joy of connecting with people from all over the world. Immersed in such a diverse community, I developed a deep appreciation for cultural exchange and global understanding. This experience ultimately inspired me to pursue a career in immigration law.

My mother immigrated to the United States from Canada as a child, and although her process was far less complex than most, I grew up surrounded by stories of when and how each of my aunts and uncles received their green cards and, later, their citizenship. Our family has maintained deep ties to Canada, and I have always valued those connections as a reminder of the importance of honoring where we come from. These family experiences, combined with my own international upbringing, gave me a lasting respect for the courage and resilience of those who make the United States their home.
